Its favorable weather conditions—gentle winds, dry climate, and clear skies—combined with its expansive plains and valleys that allow for safe landings, enable flights on approximately 220 days each year. Additionally, certain features unique to Cappadocia enhance the safety of hot air ballooning, solidifying its reputation as the global hub for this activity.
If your flight is canceled because of adverse weather conditions, you will receive a full refund. Alternatively, we may offer to reschedule your flight for the following day, depending on seat availability. During the off-season, we can usually provide an alternative flight for affected passengers. However, rescheduling is less likely during the busy peak season.
We provide free pick-up and drop-off services for guests staying in Goreme, Uchisar, Urgup, Nevsehir, Mustafapasa, Ortahisar, Avanos, Cavusin, and Ulaslı. Transfers to hotels outside these areas are available for an additional fee.
Most individuals aged 6 to 90 are welcome to fly, provided they can stand for the duration of the flight, climb into the basket, and follow safety instructions. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers must also be at least 1.3 meters tall and able to assume the landing position when required.
Hot air ballooning is not suitable for children under 6 years old, pregnant women, or individuals who cannot stand for extended periods or climb into the basket. If you have concerns, it’s best to consult your doctor before booking.
In Cappadocia, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Türkiye oversees all hot air balloon flights. Only this authority decides whether flights can proceed based on weather conditions, following thorough evaluations. Balloon companies do not have the autonomy to make this decision.
Dress in comfortable clothing, similar to what you’d wear for a casual walk. A light jacket may be helpful in the early mornings of fall or spring. Trousers or shorts are ideal for climbing in and out of the basket, and flat shoes are recommended as landings may occur on uneven terrain. A hat can protect against the heat from the burners, and sunglasses are useful for the morning sunlight.
Hot air ballooning is a remarkably safe activity. Compared to other aircraft like helicopters, planes, or gliders, hot air balloons have far fewer mechanical components, minimizing risks associated with equipment failure. Additionally, hot air ballooning in Türkiye is highly regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure safety.
Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) are the best times to visit Cappadocia. It isn't peak season and the weather is moderate.
In summer, Cappadocian nights can be cold and you might want to take a light sweater or fleece. Stout shoes are a must if you want to go walking.
If you are planning to visit mosques, pack a scarf or shawl to cover your head and men and women alike should avoid wearing shorts. Scarves are provided free upon entry if you don’t have your own.
